Mini baseball clinic Saturday
DAVISON — Batter up for the fourth annual Davison Youth Baseball mini clinic May 5 at the varsity fields at Davison High School.
Open to boys ages 5-16, the clinic will teach them all facets of baseball using a series of stations on the varsity baseball field.
Varsity players will instruct the young charges in hitting, sliding, fielding and catching and other basic fundamentals of the game. The event will take place rain or shine, from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The $10 entry fee includes a T-shirt, light lunch and more. Open registration continues at the door, however, T-shirts may not be available to latecomers until later in the week. Anyone wishing to participate the day of the event is encouraged to wear a white T-shirt to participate in the autograph session.
“Our guys have done this the last several years and really enjoy it,” said varsity baseball coach Timm Rye. “We autograph the kids’ balls, shirts, hats or whatever they like. We run stations all over the field to do all facets, sliding, base running, infield, outfield, hitting, pitching. Any kid can participate, rain or shine. If it rains, it will be held in the gyms.”
