U-12 Mesa Panthers win soccer tourney
GENESEE COUNTY — The U-12 Mesa Panthers moved up and won the U-13 division at the 7-Eleven Classic. The Panthers outscored their opponents 18-1 en route to the championship. The Panthers, who are ranked in the top 10, will play in the Michigan Premier League in the fall as a U-13 team. Davison Soccer Camp
DAVISON — Central Michigan University women’s head soccer coach, Tony DiTucci, staff and players, will hold a soccer camp at Davison High soccer fields. The camp will be July 14. Mechanical problem temporarily closes Polar Palace
LAPEER — A fault in the refrigeration equipment has forced the temporarily closing of the Polar Palace Arena Complex.

Sporting events close to home
BURTON — The IMA Recreation Department in conjunction with the Greater Flint Baseball-Softball Commission offers alternatives to expensive sporting events that are close to home. The IMA adult softball leagues hold games at Jack Abernathy Regional Park in Davison with free admission. For those interested in watching youths compete, the IMA offers baseball and girls’ fast-pitch softball.
Games can be seen at Whaley Park, Whittier Middle School and Bentley, Flushing and Swartz Creek High Schools. Admission is $2 for regular games and $5 for tournament games. The showcase of the summer is the City Baseball League (CBL), comprised of an East and West Division. CBL West Member “Halo-Foutch” is one of the best semi-pro baseball teams around, having earned numerous national awards and titles. The East Division plays at Whaley Park and the West Division plays at Broome Park, both in Flint. General admission is $2 and $5 for tournaments. ‘Best of the Best’ to tee off
GENESEE COUNTY — The IMA Brookwood Golf Club will hosting a golf tournament to see who is the best golfer in Genesee County. The first annual Genesee County Amateur will be held July 11-13. The event will have an open division for all golfers; a senior division for golfers 55-65; and a super senior division for golfers 66 and over.
