Renegades crowned state champs
JACKSON — At the state championship Father’s Day Frenzy on June 15, the BPA U-13 SCM Renegades took home first place. Team members include: Maverick Prine, Mike Holbrook, Julian Molina, Zack Olszewski, Ryan Jankowski, Cody Clontz, Logan Richards, Jordan Hatchel, Luke Scharich, Tyler Ramoie, Kelsey Sorenson and A.J. Rubio.
At the regular state championships on July 13, the Renegades placed second. — E.H.

Davison fall practice schedules set
DAVISON — For the 2008 high school fall sports season, girls’ golf will begin Aug. 7 at the Davison Country Club at 8 a.m. Boys’ tennis ( 9 a.m.), cross country (7 p.m.), volleyball (9 a.m.), girls’ swim at Kearsley’s pool (10 a.m.), boys’ soccer (9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m.) and all three levels of football will begin practice on Aug. 11. Freshmen football runs 7 a.m.-noon; JV starts at 7:30 a.m. in the athletic meeting room and varsity takes place from 4 p.m.-dark on the practice field. — E.H.

Summer’s about to explode
DAVISON — Pure Pro Wrestling (PPW) is getting set to launch a two-month tour called The Gluttons of Glory, which includes an appearance by 30-year ring veteran Greg “The Hammer” Valentine at the Knights of Columbus outdoor pavilion in Davison on Aug. 10.
Other local appearances for PPW include the Genesee County Fair in Mt. Morris, where the organization will perform daily from Aug. 11-17, and on Aug. 23 and Sept. 13 the show will return to the Davison Knights of Columbus outdoor pavilion. The tour will also make three stops in Lapeer and Waterford . — M.S.

Nighttime glow golf
BURTON — IMA Brookwood Golf Club will host a Glow Golf tournament. The tees, flag sticks and holes will be illuminated and each person will have a glowing golf ball. The tournament will be held July 25 and costs $35. Tee time is dusk or approximately 9:30 p.m. Details: 810-742-4930. — E.H.

The team of Mallory Richards, Holly Mitchell, Lauhnna Waybryant and Sydney McKenna, placed third among 17 teams in the Gus Macker basketball tournament in Ludington Michigan, June 28-29. They went 4-2 in the 21 and over division.
