Sen. Cherry honored with Scout award
BURTON — The Tall Pine Council Boy Scouts of America and the Burton Rotary Club presented Sen. Deb Cherry (D-Burton) with the Jack Hamady Good Scout Award last Thursday at the annual dinner at Brookwood Golf and Country Club.
Cherry is being honored in particular for her annual free hunter safety classes that she has sponsored in conjunction with Goodrich Community Schools and the Grand Blanc Huntsman’s Club.
The more-than-20-year-old award is bestowed upon citizens who demonstrate scouting qualities while enhancing the quality of life for Burton residents. Cherry was up against six other candidates for the prestigious award.
