Letters to the Editor

Thanks to the entire town
How does a person ever begin to express the amount of gratitude they feel when an entire community spontaneously steps forward to express their care & support?

I want to thank the Davison Eagles for the Benefit that they sponsored on my behalf last weekend. I am overwhelmed. The Eagles’ motto is “people helping people”. They really do mean it.

Many tears have been shed over these last few months, but now that I’m better the tears are those of gratitude for ever friend, customer, business owner, family member, and complete stranger that came together for me. I will never forget who you are or what you did. If you ever need me I will most certainly be here for you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart... What a town! — Darlene Gerding, Davison

Hurley Medical Center is a gem
Last week, Timothy Boan wrote to the Editor regarding his son’s involvement in a car-train accident. I have never met Mr. Boan, but we certainly have something in common. Mr. Boan’s praises of the professionals at Hurley Medical Center is right on mark.

I suspect that many in this community are unaware of what a gem we have in our midst in the form of the trauma center at Hurley, until the unthinkable happens. This past spring, they saved the life of the dearest person I have ever known. My wife Darlene.

The trauma center never asked any questions. The expected pile of admission documents never appeared. No one ever asked about insurance. They just got ‘er done.

Darlene would not be here today if it weren’t for the quick actions taken by Dar’s son Marc & his wife Shay and that of Shay’s mother Susan Hastings. Collectively, they got Darlene to just the right place at just the right time. I am so blessed. — Tom Gerding, Davison
