DAVISON — Members of the Davison school board approved a new security access system for the Davison High School May 5.

Schools Director of Finance and Operations Dan Romzek said new access control hardware will be installed on all entrance doors at the high school and Davison Altern-ative Education buildings.
“The sensors will detect and signal when entrance doors are propped open,” he said.

The entire system will be managed by access control software that will allow for flexible programming of employee and visitor access, and timing and control of doors locking and unlocking.

Romzek said FBH Architectural Building Products of Flint was the low bidder at $82,000.
“Are we thinking about adding more systems for other buildings?” Board member Dale Green asked.

Romzek said it was a possibility. “The high school was the largest building to do.”

“I can see the advantage to having the system,” said board member Mark McGlashen. “Once an intruder gets into a building, you’re done. I think this is a great way to prevent that.”

Installation of the new system will take place this summer, Romzek said.
