RICHFIELD TWP. — Owners Derek and Kris Penzien said they were excited to be a part of the community as they opened the doors of Outer Limits Bar & Grill, 8095 N. State Rd., last Saturday.

This is the duo’s first time running a bar, Derek said. “I owned a trucking company for 23 years, and the cost of fuel was going up. I enjoy being around people, so we decided to buy the bar.”
Before opening, they had to do some repairs, replacing frozen pipes and remodeling the inside bar.

The Outer Limits offers a full menu, as well as a menu for kids. Their signature sandwich is the Giddy-Up, made with polish sausage cooked in beer on rye bread with pickle and Swiss cheese.
Derek said the bar will have different daily lunch specials prepared by Chef Wolf. Wolf has been in the food industry for 43 years. “I make everything from scratch including the soups and sauces,” Wolf said.

The bar also will offer entertainment with DJ Rockstar Mandi Wednesday through Saturday beginning at 9 p.m. Karaoke is available any night, he said. They plan to have live bands some evenings as well. Alter Ego is lined up for the bar’s official grand opening May 31. The band will play from 9 p.m. until close.

The bar currently has two pool tables and five TV screens. They have an Internet juke box, which Derek says offers every song ever published. They also have wireless Internet access. Keno and other lottery games will be added by next week.

At the Outer Limits, “every hour is happy hour,” Kris says.

The bar offers a variety of domestic and imported beers and a wide variety of liquors, and they will offer weekly drink specials.

Hours at the Outer Limits are 11 a.m.-2 a.m., Monday-Saturday; noon-2 a.m. Sunday. Phone: 810-374-6130.
