Texas Hold ‘Em
DAVISON — American Legion Post 267 will host a Texas Hold’Em tournament May 30 at the Davison VFW Post 4087, 9474 Lapeer Rd. Davison. Doors will open at 5:30 pm., the tournament starts at 7 pm. Entry fee is $30 for $1,500 in poker chips.

Advance registration can be done at the VFW Clubroom 810-658-9069. All seven players of the final table will receive prize money with amount of payout depending on the number of entries. Relay for Life concert
DAVISON — United Methodists for a Cure will sponsor a benefit concert featuring Big Band era music and local swing band Rock of Ages at 6 p.m. June 1 at Davison United Methodist Church, 207 E. Third St.

Refreshments and child care will be provided. A free will offering will be taken and all proceeds benefit Relay for Life.

DAVISON — The Davison City Council is holding a Truth in Taxation public hearing at 8:15 p.m. during its June 2 meeting.

The hearing will cover the proposed city budget for the 2008-9 fiscal year. Members of the public may speak at the hearing.

Wojo’s donate to
DHS soccer program
DAVISON — Wojo’s Garden Splendor, 7360 E. Court St., along with its Ortonville location, will donate 10 percent of all purchases of landscaping projects, fertilizers, pots, shrubs, trees, seeds and other garden needs to the Davison High School Soccer Program June 1.

Ms. Senior Michigan pageant
ROCHESTER — The 2008 Ms. Senior Michigan Pageant takes place July 22 at the Rochester Older Persons’ Commission.

The event will feature contestants from all over the state. Senior contestants will compete in personality, talent, and evening gown categories. The OPC has scheduled a lunch before the performance. Lunch begins at 11:30 a.m. and the competition starts at 1 p.m.

Tickets for the event are $15 per person. Limited seating is available. Ticket reservations can be faxed to 248-656-3153 or mailed to Marye Miller, public relations coordinator, 650 Letica Drive, Rochester, MI 48307. Middle Eastern
luncheon, bake sale
FLINT — St. George’s Ladies Auxiliary is hosting their Middle Eastern luncheon and bake sale 11 a.m.-3 p.m. May 29.

The menu includes kibbee, green bean stew with rice, hummus, salad, pita bread, dessert, coffee and iced tea. Tickets are $10 each. Take out is available and free delivery is available for eight orders or more.
