Italia Gardens opens new location in Oxford

OXFORD — Italia Gardens will hold a grand opening of its newest location in Oxford July 9.

The restaurant, which first opened its doors in Flint in 1931, was owned by Albert and Josephine Barone. The family-owned restaurant was passed down to Don Haley Sr. and his wife. Enza, and now is operated by their son Don Haley Jr. and his mother, Enza. In 1994, Italia Gardens expanded to its second location in Davison and moved the Flint restaurant to Miller Rd. in 1998.

The new Oxford restaurant is located at 1076 S. Lapeer Rd. The 4,200-square-foot restaurant has undergone a complete million-dollar renovation.

The Oxford location will be managed by Ed Klimek, who has been with Italia Gardens since 1992.
Managers Teri Harding, who has been with Italia Gardens for six years, and Mary Hassenzzahl will assist him.

“We are very excited about opening in the Oxford and Lake Orion area. The community’s enthusiasm about our opening has been so great. We can’t wait for everyone to come in and sample our award-winning barbecue ribs, and our great selection of pasta dinners,” said Haley.

On July 8, Italia Gardens will host a pre-grand opening to benefit the Oxford Orion Fish organization. Doors officially open at the restaurant at 4 p.m. July 9. — Natalie Blythe
