DAVISON — Losing a loved one to cancer is difficult — perhaps even more so when the loved one is a young person. No family knows that more than the Simon family of Grand Blanc.
In honor of their daughter Amy Simon, Richard and Jo-An Simon, along with the entire family, will host the Amy Simon Memorial Golf Scramble June 20 at Sugarbush Golf Club, 1 Sugarbush Dr. in Davison. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Michigan.
“Make-A-Wish gave us one of our last good times together as a family, and this is our way of thanking them and giving other families the same opportunity,” said her brother, Christopher Simon of Fenton.
Amy died of a brain tumor a few days before her 14th birthday in 1998. A foundation has been set up in her memory.
Cost for the scramble is $85 per person. Sponsorships and donations also are accepted. Deadline for entry is June 1.
