E Z Laundry Service has new owner

DAVISON — After putting in many hours of hard work to remodel the laundromat located at 400 W. Flint St., new owner Steve Lach hopes to see the washers and dryers spinning about with items of satisfied customers.

Lach opened his business April 1. His grand opening was June 25.

He decided to give the laundry business a spin in January. “I did the demographics for Davison, and I thought this was a nice, safe place,” he said.

Lach noticed the business was rundown, and many of washers were in need of repair, but Lach, a former Navy mechanic, said he was up for the challenge.

Along with fixing the washers, he repaired the dryers, fixed the laundry carts, added and repaired lights, put in new windows and re-painted the building.

While the dryers are about 25 years old, Lach said they’re still top-of-the line. “Continental dryers are world known,” he said.

E Z Laundry Service has 34 washers. They have four, 50-pound washers, which will hold larger items like comforters, blankets and sleeping bags. “You can wash three or four sleeping bags in one load,” he said.

The laundromat has 21 dryers, ranging from single to five loads. They also have two extractors.
E Z Laundry Service provides customers with the highest setting of heat so items dry quickly.

“The laundromat is a great place for campers in the area as well as families,” he said. “People have a misconception about who uses laundromats. I have a woman who has a washer and dryer at home; she comes here with her daughters to do their laundry. She comes here because she can get it all done faster than if she’d do it at home.”

Over the months, he has done a lot of improvements to his business, but plans to do more. He said he wants to address the floor inside the building. “I’ll be doing the renovations in stages, and will keep the business open,” he said.

The Oxford resident said he’s happy with his first business venture. “The people are very friendly. It was nice of members of the (Davison) Chamber of Commerce and the city people to come to my opening. I didn’t expect all those people. It was very nice,” he said.

E Z Laundry Service is open from 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Sunday.
