DAVISON — The Davison City Council approved the 2007-2008 fiscal year general fund budget amendment at its June 23 meeting.

This is the second budget amendment for 2007-2008, and with this second amendment, the general fund budget is now at $3,590,702. This change is $14,160 less than the originally-amended 2007-2008 budget of $3,604,862.

The original budget for 2007-2008, before any amendments, was $3,433,929. The second amended budget is $156,773 more.

In an e-mail to city council and to City Manager Dale Martin, Davison City Treasurer Cindy Van Megroet stated that this latest amendment reflects several items that were unexpected or unplanned. She added that the budget reflects that “...we have done our best to predict the remainder of the year expenses and to keep us within the budget presented to you for this final Budget Amendment for 2007-2008.”

Among the budget changes in the second amendment is a police budget that is $44,412 more than what had been originally budgeted and $42,302 more than what had been allotted in the first amendment.

There also was an increase of $10,200 in the Department of Public Works Labor budget; a decrease of $23,095 for Public Improvements; and a decrease of $27,100 for a State-Shared Revenue/Local Government Collaborative Revenues program, which was nixed.
