Charles E. Coughlin, 89, of Davison, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Genesys Health Park.
Charles was born in Shepherd, Michigan on December 19, 1918, son of the late Charles and Sarah (Conroy) Coughlin. He resided in the Davison area for 60 years. Charles married Mary Miller on August 17, 1946 in Shepherd. Charles was given the Irish Father of the Year award in 1994. He was an active supporter of the Seminarian Dinner program. Charles was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #4090, 3rd and 4th Degree and the Ancient Order of the Hibernians. He retired from Buick-Motor Division on January 1, 1981 with 35.5 years of service.
Charles is survived by his wife of more than 61 years, Mary; children, Alice Yelen of Fenton, James (Shelia) Coughlin of Lapeer, Stephen Coughlin of DeWitt, Ann (Gary) Frakes of Sebring, FL, David (Carol) Coughlin of Ypsilanti, Thomas (Tammy) Coughlin of Swartz Creek, Joseph Coughlin of Davison, Mary Jane Urioste of Davison, Charles P. Coughlin of Flint, Rev. Fr. Kenneth Coughlin pastor of Holy Family Catholic Church, Grand Blanc, Susan (Ed) Greiner of Davison and Karen (Jack) Whittaker of Brighton; 21 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Dorothy Meyers, Marguerite Bolinger, Monica (Ed) Ostram, Edward (Rose) Coughlin and Robert Coughlin; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers, George, Joseph, Donald and Martin and sisters, Kathleen Parks and Marie Overfield. Charles was very committed to his Catholic faith, a dedicated spouse, a loving father and grandfather.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John Catholic Church-Building Fund.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, April 7, 2008 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison. Rev. Fr. Kenneth F. Coughlin and Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski concelebrated. Burial followed in St. John Catholic Cemetery.

Sue A. Weidman, 66, of Davison, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2008 at Hurley Medical Center.
Sue was born in Lapeer County on March 25, 1942, daughter of Earl L. and Frances Mae (Boismer) Moore. She resided in the Davison area all of her life. Sue graduated from the Saginaw General Hospital School of Nursing in 1963. She worked at McLaren Regional Medical Center for 4 years and at Hurley Medical Center as head nurse of the Education Department for 9 years. Sue also worked for the City of Flint as a Safety Coordinator, retiring in 1991, where she was known as “Safety Sue”. She was a sponsor for the Davison High School Class of 1987. Sue was a co-founder of the Davison Jr. Football League and a co-founder of the Davison Food Co-Op. She enjoyed many crafts and loved to travel.
Sue was a loving mother, who is survived by her children, Linda (Tony) Bauer, Christy (David) Flowers and Mike (Ingrid) Weidman; grandchildren, Amanda Paivarinta, Anthony Bauer Jr., Brittany, Kyra, Anna Flowers, Tyler and Eric Weidman; sisters, Cecelia (David) Morris, Frances (Jerry) Miller, Katherine Breckenridge and Bonnie (Don) Boismer; many nieces and nephews, and the father of her children, Ronald Weidman.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.
A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 E. Davison Rd., Davison, Pastor David Flowers officiating. Burial will be in Richfield Union Cemetery.
