Donald Leonard Tate, 69, of Davison, died Saturday, March 8, 2008 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 13 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski and Rev. Fr. George Puraidam M.S.F.S concelebrating. Burial will be in St. John Catholic Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. and from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Thursday at the church. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Mr. Tate was born in Flint on July 4, 1938, son of the late William J. and Eugenia M. (Okoniewski) Tate. He married Linda Kay Sermak at St. John Catholic Church in Fenton on April 16, 1994. He was employed by General Motors for 32 years and was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Davison. He was an avid golfer, lover of antiques and a friend to all.

He was preceded in death by parents; brother, Robert; sisters, Joyce and Joanne; son-in-law, Randall McNicol.

Survivors include: wife, Linda Kay Tate; children, William (Debbie) Tate, Earl (Sheri) Tate, Lisa McNicol; stepchildren, Bryan Dennehy and Shannon Dennehy; grandchildren, Shaun (Lindsey), Ryan, Jessica, Jake, Amanda, Jennifer; great-granddaughter, Alivia; sister, Margaret (Bud) Tate; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews; best friend, Jim Johnston; special cousin, Karen (Tom) Phipps.

The family offered special thanks to the nurses, doctors and staff at McLaren CCU.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Children’s Leukemia Foundation or to Outreach East at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
