It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...
Regardless of the date on the calendar, volunteers are constantly working to raise funds for the annual Davison Care and Share program. Founded by Index Publisher Jim Sherman more than 25 years ago, Care and Share is a unique Christmas charity program for several reasons:
First, it concentrates on needy families in the Davison area (and there are more than many people realize).
Second, it is ALL volunteer. There is NO overhead, because local churches, businesses, schools and a lot of "just plain folks" team up to donate time, space, labor and cash, ALL of which goes directly to the items provided to local families. Because of the involvement of special business partners, bulk purchases mean maximum mileage from the cash donations.
On a very special Saturday each December, needy families are provided with an ample food basket (including fresh items like meat and milk), with lots of food, toys and clothing as well.
After Thanksgiving, the pace picks up as we seek donations of non-perishable food, "gently used" clothing and toys, but year-round we welcome cash donations to help purchase fresh items and fill in the gaps from donated items.
Contributions are tax deductible. Send a check payable to "Davison Care and Share," PO Box 100, Davison, MI 48423.
