DAVISON — Ryan Everson, with his diploma fresh in his hand, already owns a business in downtown Davison. He opened Everson Computers, 333 N. Main St., (next to the former Hometown Bakery) June 3.
The store sells Dell computers, including Vostro and Inspiron series. He also sells computer equipment. Everson also does computer diagnostics and repairs, PC upgrades and data recovery. He also offers video camera surveillance for businesses.
Everson said lower prices are what sets him apart from the competition. He also offers free diagnostics on computers. “Most places charge a $55 bench fee just to drop off the computer. I don’t charge to diagnose what’s wrong. I will find out what the trouble is, and if the customer doesn’t want it repaired, it’s free,” he said.
Everson has computer certification. He’s won a lot of computer competitions and placed first in the nation in DECA this year. “I was the first kid in Davison to get in the top three in DECA for Davison in 30 years,” he said.
Everson has worked on computers since he was 12. “I love it. I like how technology is constantly changing,” he said.
He’s also has two years of experience working at a computer store. “I worked for Davison Computers from 2005-07,” Everson said.
While many teens his age are looking forward to a break from school, Everson said he’s excited about being his own boss.
He’s also happy with his downtown location. “I wanted to help out my hometown,” he said.
His orders are increasing and business is picking up he said.
Business hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday; 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday.
